Presidents
Pointers:
Summer
has flown by although you’d never know it by the temperature outside! But it will soon be time for the holidays and
that will bring us to our first APA meeting of the year! We will meet on Friday, Oct 8th
at Dobson Ranch Inn, 11am. Please come
if you are a president or delegate and RSVP to Pat at 480-832-5229. (Leave a
message if I do not answer – If I am grading I can not always answer the
phone.) I need to know if you are
attending and how many from your guild to expect to attend. I will call for reservations so we have enough tables to hold all of our members.
I
am happy to report that we paid $300 for an after school program of art at Taft
school in Mesa, Arizona. Sharon Straley
handled all the details of this program.
She will soon be sending the guilds the information for next year’s
scholarship for schools and we understand that Tucson may already have a school
in mind! Please get your form back to us
so that we can be in compliance with the IRS as a charity organization! We do want to support art in our schools for
our children!
This
year ten lucky APA members were fortunate enough to receive scholarships to the
Porcelain Painter’s Paradise School in September totaling $2000.00. We hope this will be only the beginning of
many scholarships for all of us and look forward to many more winners next
year. Deanna has their names published
elsewhere in the newsletter- be sure and congratulate them. Be sure to sign up for next year’s
scholarship with the President of your guild.
I do not take anyone’s names myself.
To qualify, you must agree to be able to attend one of the sessions, to
have funds to pay the balance of the school funds and your name must not have
been drawn as a winner in 2010. We will
let the presidents know when it is time to draw for 2011 winners. Good luck – you are all winners to me!
Sharon
Straley will have CD’s of the items we have for you to check out at the next
APA meeting. Why not check over the list
and preorder a title for a meeting or for personal use? You check out the item and then mail it back
to Sharon – what could be easier? We
have some great painters – Jane Marcks, Joanna Baker, Barbara Duncan, Paula
Collins, Alzora Zaremba,
Celee Evans and Paula White.
Each year we have an allowance to purchase more titles for your library
but we need for you to make use of it!
So plan now to begin checking out some of our CD’s! We also have books that you may borrow by
asking Sharon to either mail them or bring them to an APA meeting. List is in the front of your yearbooks.
WEBSITE- We are still having problems with the website – Deb
Eberhart has agreed to work on the site but we have not been able to get it
downloaded for her yet. I hope to get
with her soon to see if we can get this remedied before our next show.
PAA is planning a February Luncheon – Reflections in
Beauty. Please be sure to purchase your
tickets to this event and support their hard work on this show! I definitely
plan to attend! I will see you in
Oct….Do not forget to RSVP for the October meeting!! President Pat Book
